Dr Ali-Reza Bhojani
Associate Professor in Islamic Ethics
Dr Ali‑Reza Bhojani teaches Islamic law and ethics at the University of Birmingham. His work brings multidisciplinary approaches to Islamic intellectual traditions and their relevance for contemporary ethics. He is also a Research Fellow at the Seattle‑based non‑profit AI and Faith, focusing on faith‑based perspectives in debates about ethical AI. Recent publications include his article Truth and Regret: Large Language Models, the Quran, and Misinformation and his chapter Between Fear and Hope: AI Ethics in Islamic Thought. Ali‑Reza spoke at the AI and Religion seminar on 21 January.

Dr Jeremy Kidwell
Associate Professor in Philosophical Theology
Dr Jeremy Kidwell is Associate Professor in Philosophical Theology at the University of Birmingham. Before entering academia, he worked in the tech industry, moving from teenage hacker to IT technician, server administrator, network security team lead and trainer. His research explores the philosophical and theological implications of AI for human subjectivity, agency and relationships, alongside practical experimentation with LLMs in contexts such as assistive technology. Jeremy spoke at the AI and Religion seminar on 21 January.
